(Duke) Vorpagel Jr., age 47, of Cherry Township, Dushore, PA passed away at home on Wednesday, April 04, 2007 after suffering a massive heart attack. Duke was born in Prescott, AZ on March 29, 1960, a son of the late Richard C. Sr. & Dorothy June Fishburn Vorpagel. He graduated from the Prescott High School, a member of the class of 1978. He entered the US Navy after graduation and married the former Margaret E. (Peggy) Robinson of Winslow, AZ on June 2, 1979. Duke served on many ships, being stationed at Norfolk, VA for 12 years and at Great Lakes for 8 years, finishing on the USS Kinkaid in San Diego, CA, where he was honorably discharged in 1998. He was a gas turbine specialist and during his service career he participated in Desert Storm, Desert Shield and the Gulf War. He moved to Sullivan County in October of 1998. After retiring from the Navy he was employed in maintenance for Taylor Cargill in Wyalusing, PA. Duke was a member of Waukegan Lodge #78, A.F. & A.M. and was a member of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Surviving: Spouse: Peggy at home Daughter and son-in-law: Adria & Bill Bothe Charlotte, NC Two sisters and brothers-in-law: Sandra and Ted Brinkley Salisbury, NC Patricia and Ted Noel Prescott, AZ Sisters-in-law: Gail Robinson Tallahassee, FL Michaelene Robinson Winslow, AZ Sheila Dailey Fairbanks, AK And Bob, Jasmine, Bonehead and Hope Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Bert S. Kozen, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Apr. 9, from 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 7:15 P.M. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
