Murray, age 90, formerly of Dushore, PA passed away peacefully at her home in Wilcox, PA on Monday, June 30, 2008 Alice was born in Wilcox, PA on October 4, 1917 a daughter of the late John and Anna Simpko Pavlina. She went to work in Elmira, NY and later came to Dushore to work as a telephone operator. She married Joseph R. Murray of Dushore on October 28, 1943. Joe predeceased her on December 29, 1993. Alice later worked at the Kline’s Clothing and Dry Goods Store in Dushore and spent most of her life providing care at her home for over 65 local children, many of which she and Joe considered their own. After Joe’s death, Alice returned to Wilcox to be near her sister and family. Alice was a very active member of St. Basil’s Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society. She was always there to work at every parish function and with a sincere smile on her face. She had recently been attending St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wilcox. Surviving: Sister: Margaret Nearing Wilcox And numerous nieces and nephews and the multitude of children that she help raise and care for over the years. A Transition Service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 12:30 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 P.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Homer Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
