Helen was born in Scranton, PA on December 4, 1919 a daughter of the late Constantine & Josephine Yazyna Chrzanowski. Her parents moved to Lopez soon after, and she graduated from the Lopez High School. She married Julius Ottaviani of Mildred on January 7, 1939. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before his passing on October 22, 2007. Helen was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA and was a member of St. Basil - St. Francis Altar and Rosary Society. She worked as a clerk for the former Ben Franklin Store in Dushore, PA and was also the manager of the Ben Franklin in Mansfield, PA. She was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and crocheting afghans. She was very involved with the Democrat Party and helped with meal on wheels for several years. She enjoyed her cottage on the Susquehanna every summer where she had a vegetable and flower garden. Surviving: Sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Anita Ottaviani Hernando, FL Robert and Rose Ottaviani Camptown, PA Randy and Wilda Ottaviani East Smithfield, PA Daughter and son-in-law: Regina Ottaviani and John Mastropaolo Silver Spring, MD Brothers: John Chrzanowski Carmichael, CA Bernard (Alice) Chrzanowski Apalachin, NY Sisters: Eleanor Grandinetti Murraytown, PA Tess Vickers Carmichael, CA Yvonne (John) Evangelisti Mildred, PA Brothers-in-law: George Ottaviani Elmira, PA Anthony (Jo Ann) Ottaviani Binghamton, NY Sister-in-law: Shirley Chrzanowski Mildred, PA Madeline Rogers Charleston, SC 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers: Francis "Chet" Chrzanowski on May 30, 1971and Edward Chrzanowski on February 17, 1997 and a sister, Wanda Andrewlavage July 10, 1999. A Transferal Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 9:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery. Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 P.M. by members of St. Basil-St. Francis Altar and Rosary Society. The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorials are directed to the Mildred Fire Company, PO Box 147, Mildred, PA 18632.
