DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net March 29, 2009 OBITUARY Mrs. Nancy May Carpenter, age 82, well known resident of Laporte, PA passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. Nancy was born November 17, 1926 in Lock Haven, PA a daughter of the late Harry Richard Zimmerman and Beulah May Snyder Zimmerman both of Lock Haven. She graduated from the Lock Haven High School, a member of the Class of 1944, and graduated from Lock Haven State Teachers’ College with a B.S. in English Education in 1948 and later received her Speech Correction Certificate from the Pennsylvania State University. Nancy grew up in Lock Haven where her father owned the Zimmerman Insurance Agency. Her first job was in the Bethlehem Area School District as the school’s speech therapist. She married Robert P. Carpenter of Laporte, PA in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lock Haven on June 24, 1950 and moved to Sullivan County and was the school district’s speech therapist until retirement. She was a member of the Laporte Women’s Club, the American Cancer Society, and a Charter Member of the Lake Mokoma Association and a board member of the Dushore Public Library. She enjoyed baking, reading, playing cards and volunteering. Spending time with her family and friends was what she enjoyed the most. She was a loving great grandmother, grandmother, mother and wife. (Marc) Walter Laurie (Ronnie) Emery II both of Loyalsock Township, PA Great grandson: Ronald Scott Emery. Nancy was predeceased by twin sons, James and John Carpenter, grandson, Ronald Scott Insinger and a brother, H. William Zimmerman. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Charitable contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to the Laporte Fire Company, the Laporte Community Hall or a charity of your choice.
