Gainer, age 70, well known Dushore businessman passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. Jack was born in Dushore, July 15, 1938 son of the late Augustine (Nick) and Margaret Sick Gainer. He graduated from St. Basil’s High School a member of the Class of 1956. He married the former Virginia Ruth Bullock of Wilmot on June 18, 1960; she predeceased him last April 7th, 2008 after 47 years of marriage. On Valentine’s Day in 1962 he and Virginia purchased Hamer’s Atlantic Service Station from John Hamer in Dushore. He operated the business until 1990 when he moved the Stihl and Cub Cadet Franchise businesses to his home. Jack was a member of St. Basil’s Church in Dushore, PA. Surviving: A son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Kathlyn Gainer Winsted, CT Daughter and son-in-law: Connie and Frank Carr Wilmot, PA Grandchildren Shauna, Brandon and Anthony Carr; Margaret and Kathlyn Gainer. Brother: Eugene Gainer New Alexandria, PA Sister and brother-in-law: Jo Ann and Gene Merge Pittsburgh; Sisters-in law: Dorothy Fitzgerald Fayetteville, NC Joan (Charles) Sanderson Sugar Run, PA Judith (William) Dolde Naples, FL Brother-in-law: Richard (Eileen) Bullock Wellesville, PA Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, he was predeceased by a brother, William E. Gainer, August 11, 1998 and a Sister, Rosemary Walsh on September 5, 2006. A Transferal Service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church Dushore, with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. The Family will provide the Flowers and request that memorial be directed in his memory to St. Basil’s Restoration Fund, PO Box 307, Dushore, PA 18614 or the Dushore Fire and Ambulance Association, PO Box 1, Dushore, PA 18614.
