DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net OBITUARY Edwin Stanley Skoczylas, age 75, of Mildred, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his home with his loving wife at his side after several years battling lung cancer. Edwin was born September 10, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA son of the late Adam and Josephine Kluzinski Skoczylas. He graduated from St. John Cantius elementary school and Northeast High School in Philadelphia. He began working at the Bridge Street Sears warehouse in 1953 and retired from there after its closing in 1993 after 40 years of service. He married the former Geraldine (Gerry) Przecha of Philadelphia in 1959. Ed and his family spent many years vacationing and hunting in Mildred until they became full-time residents after his retirement. In addition to hunting, Ed was an avid bowler, having been on his high school championship team for 3 years. Ed was involved in organized bowling for over 60 years, including 13 years in the Towanda Bowling Association. He got his start in major league bowling at Del Ennis Lanes, and bowled with professional bowlers in the Nationals, States and Dutch Lebanon Tournaments. Ed had numerous 700 series and his 300 game at Starlite Lanes in Feb. 2002. He bowled on the Dushore Beverage Team for over 10 years with a high average of 208. Surviving: Spouse: Gerry at home Sons: Adam (Nancy) Skoczylas Little Meadows, PA John (Jill) Skoczylas Croydon, PA Brothers: Joseph Skoczylas Philadelphia, PA Richard (Catherine) Skoczylas Hatfield, PA Sister: Dolores (Walt) Lyszkowski Philadelphia, PA Nieces, Andrea (Tim) Durick and Cathy Rapine, and a nephew Richard Skoczylas and a loving granddaughter, Christine Marie, who has brought many joyous moments into Ed’s life. Although only seven, she has been his Florence Nightingale, responding to his bell ringing, while making him as comfortable as possible during her visits. A Transferal Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA at 11:00 A.M. and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, his pastor, presiding. The family will receive friends at the Homer Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
