Fred was born in Queens, NY on October 23, 1924 a son of the late Sam & Amalie (Garulska) Zaitzef. His father had emigrated from Russia and settled in New York. He graduated from the Brooklyn Technical School. He served in WWII from November 10, 1942 until November 8, 1945 in the European Theatre. After the War he moved to Schuyler County, NY and purchased a farm and later began working as a carpenter. He honed his craft, worked hard and eventually retired as a supervisor with Streeter Associates in Elmira, NY. Surviving, are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a half-brother, Michael Wiernicki and an a half-sister, Lucille Goveposo. Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family and are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
