Potter, age 84, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 2, 2006, with her family at her side, at the home of her daughter Melanie Adams of Stowell. Helen was born on Sugar Hill, Wilmot Twp., on June 14, 1921 a daughter of the late Rhea & Alice Secules Keeney. She graduated from the Wyalusing High School, a member of the class of 1939. She married Ford W. Potter of Sugar Run, on September 25, 1940. He predeceased her on July 19, 1984. Helen was engaged with her husband in farming most of her life. She also worked at the Wyalusing Rocks, Bendix Corp. in Montrose, PA, the American Meter Plant in Wyalusing, and also as an aide at the Wyalusing Elementary School. Helen served as a tax collector for Wilmot Twp... Helen was an avid gardener. She loved to cook and bake, and especially enjoyed serving her friends and family at her home. Helen was a member of the Hollenback United Methodist Church and a member of WSCS. Surviving: Three daughters and sons-in-law: Melanie & Gale Adams Stowell, PA Sharon & Donald Pickett Sugar Run, PA Peggy & Philip Steier Factoryville, PA Sister and brother-in-law: Mrs. Anne & Lawrence LaRue East Rush, PA Brother-in-law: Hugh O’Mara Sugar Run, PA Sisters-in-law: Marie Keeney Wyalusing, PA Phoebe Keeney Wyalusing, PA Nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers: Burton Keeney, Dennis Keeney, James Keeney and Charles S. Keeney, a sister, Mrs. Beverly O’Mara, and a great-granddaughter Amanda Fulmer. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 4th, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Diane E. Prentice, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
