(Ginny) Coniff, age 73, of Eagles Mere, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side, on Saturday, May 09, 2009 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA. Virginia Coniff was born in Danville, PA on May 8, 1936, the only child of Stella and T. Beaver Davis. A graduate of Danville High School ’54, she continued her education at Bucknell University, receiving a B.A. in 1958. A year later, on July 4, 1959, Virginia married Robert Francis Coniff. Together they had 3 children, Catherine, Todd, and Melissa. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, all three children and her four grandchildren; Jacob, Davis, Maddie and Miles. Virginia was a loving, passionate, and energetic person. She connected with people of all different backgrounds and deeply rooted herself in each community where she resided. She offered many years of service as an advocate of education on the school boards of Wayzata, MN and Madison, CT. She also served many years on the Madison Library board. In addition, she earned a certificate of appraisal from NYU that led her to own and operate her own antique/consignment shops for 20 years in Madison, CT and Eagles Mere, PA. She also had a mean tennis serve and played whenever she could fit it in. On her honeymoon, during the early years of her children’s lives and again the last 13 years of her life, Virginia thrived in the summer community of Eagles Mere, PA. There she made many life-long friends and developed a love of hiking, wildflowers, and conservation. She also served on the Eagles Mere Museum Board. A memorial service will be held for Virginia on Saturday, June 27th at Noon at St. John’s-in-the-Wilderness Episcopal Church in Eagles Mere, PA PA with the Rev. Maxine Dorneman, officiating.
