Mary was born in Prague, Checkloslavakia on May 29, 1920 a daughter of the late John & Filomena Kilian Brhel. She moved to the United States at the age of two. She was raised in Endicott, NY and married Robert E. Swackhammer on October 13, 1968 in Endicott, NY. Mary retired from Remington Rand Corp. in Elmira, NY after 22 years of service. Mary loved spending time in the outdoors. She fed the bear and deer each day and took much pride in her flowers and crafts. She loved her “boys” cats (Muffin & Little One) very much. Surviving: Spouse of 39 years: Robert E. Swackhammer Sr. at home Two step-sons and daughters-in-law: Robert E & Janet Swackhammer Jr. Sayre, PA Richard & Donna Swackhammer Sayre, PA Two step-daughters and sons-in-law: Donna & Bill Limerick Sayre, PA Bernice & Wilbert Reed Sayre, PA Brother and sister-in-law: Frank & Barbara Brhel Endicott, NY Sister: Eva Olsofsky Brevard, NC Sister-in-law: Aloisie Brhel Endicott, NY Six grandchildren: Cynthia (John) Thomson, Patricia (Jim) Fox, Michelle (Tom) Bennett, Bridget Swackhammer, Amy Swackhammer and Vanessa Reed; Seven great grandchildren: Robert Thomson, Jeffrey Fox, Adam and Emily Bennett, Amanda Merrill, Brooke Rosh and Faith Swackhammer. And several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Swackhammer and three brothers, Joseph Brhel, John Brhel and Jerry Brhel. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with the Rev. William C. Wells, officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Sonestown, PA. Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
