Gertrude was born in Taylor, PA on February 17, 1916 a daughter of the late Edward & Bertha Mapleson Reed Sr. She attended the Wyalusing High School. She married Harry A. Whipple of Wilmot Twp. on January 17, 1938. Harry predeceased her on January 24, 2002 after 64 years of marriage. Gertrude was a loving spouse, mother and grandmother. She and Harry operated the family dairy farm until 1955. She enjoyed sewing and baking for family and friends. She was a very loving and giving person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church. Surviving: Daughter and son-in-law: Alice & Arthur Allyn Browntown, PA Son and daughter-in-law: Robert & Anita Whipple Towanda, PA Sisters and brother-in-law: Ruth Eberlin Wyalusing, PA Doris & William Madill Monroeton, PA Sister-in-law: Edith Reed Ocala, FL Four grandchildren: Brenda and David Morrow Schenectady, NY Todd and Debbie Allyn Sugar Run, PA Pamela & Steve McCloskey Mansfield, PA Bryan & Lynn Whipple Strabane, PA Eleven great grandchildren: Chris Clair, Tucker Allyn, Jeremy Allyn, Katharine Morrow, Rebecca Morrow, Katey Grace McCloskey, Zachary McCloskey, Ashlyn Whipple, Madison Whipple and Camryn Whipple, Nolan Whipple A great-great grandson: Conor Clair And several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Lewis Reed of Sugar Run, Edward Reed Jr. of Ocala, FL and James Reed of Wyalusing. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 12:00 Noon at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Diane E. Prentice, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
