Meehan, age 89, of Overton, PA, formerly of Levittown, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA. Beatrice was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 3, 1921, a daughter of the late Rodman and Pauline Wichterman Fries. She married Martin F. Meehan of Andalusia, PA May 9, 1942. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Beatrice was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA. She was an excellent seamstress, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Surviving: Husband: Martin Laporte, PA Three daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Herbert Hausmann Richmond, VA Barbara and Jon Briggs Prince George, VA Judith and Pierce Crompton Stuart, FL Sister: Pauline Cunningham CA Grandson and fiancé: Geoffrey Hausmann and Sarah Chase Minneapolis, MN Numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Rodman Fries, sisters; Katherine Elliot and Clara Kairis, and a grandson Erik Martin Hausmann. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Overton, PA. The family will provide the flowers and request that memorial contributions be directed to the Highlands Care Center, PO Box 10, Laporte, PA 18626.
