Mike was born in Sunbury, PA on November 13, 1955 son of Dorothy R. Smith Bowers and the late Burton L. Bowers. Mike served in the US Marine Corps and was employed by York Casket Manufacturing Company. Surviving are his mother, Dorothy of Dushore, PA; and six brothers: Edward Bowers of Hanover, MD; Paul Bowers of Beltsville, MD; Charles Bowers of Wrightsville, PA; John Bowers of Jacobus, PA; David Bowers of Galveston, TX; Richard Bowers of Airville, PA; four sisters: Patricia Dycus of Litchfield Park, AZ; Margaret Kraft of Wyalusing, PA; Phyllis Bowers of Brooklyn Center, MN; and Diane Illo, Aurora, CO; Aunts: Marie Soden of Tyrone, PA and Brenda Smith of Mt. Joy, PA and an Uncle Walter Smith of Wethersfield, CT; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
