(Bud) Mann, age 75, of Laporte, PA, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Bud was born in Muncy, PA on November 28, 1933 a son of the late Wesley Levi and Mary Callen Mann. He graduated from Muncy High School, a member of the class of 1951. While in high school he was a two sport standout, lettering in baseball, four years and basketball, two years. He was offered full scholarships to play basketball for the University of Syracuse, American University and Lycoming College but elected to serve in the US Navy. He served in the US Navy overseas during the Korean War from 1953 to 1957. Returning from the service, he married the former Betty Kathleen Woods of Washington, DC. Kathy predeceased him on August 17, 1998. He began working for Atlantic Research Corp., then Leasco Corp. He then worked for the US Postal Service and finally for Health and Human Services, formerly HEW, from which he retired in 1994. Bud was a summer resident of Laporte since 1971. He was a member of the Laporte United Methodist Church and was very active with the Lake Mokoma Association where he had served on various committees and also with the Eagles Mere – Laporte Lions Club. He was also a member of Sonestown American Legion Post #601 and a member of the American Legion Riders. In retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling and especially fishing. He married the former Carole E. Shoemaker of Muncy on April 27, 2002. In 2006 he was inducted into the Muncy High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Woods Springfield, VA Seven grandchildren: Justin Stone Jeremy Stone Josh Moser Ryan Moser Maggie Moser Kathleen Mann Forrest Mann Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Mann of Picture Rocks. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Laporte United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert W. Brown, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Mountain Ash Cemetery, Laporte, PA. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of Sonestown American Legion Post # 601.
