Deegan, age 82, of Clarks Summit, formerly of Dushore and Tunkhannock, PA passed away on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. Jim was born in Dushore, PA on December 28, 1924 son of the late William J. & Bernetta Collins Deegan. He graduated from St. Basil’s High School, a member of the class of 1943. He served in the US Army in WWII with the 362nd Infantry Regiment, participating in the Rome and Arno Campaigns. He was awarded a Bronze Star for bravery and meritorious service. He married the former Dorothy Kracoski of Lopez, PA on October 8, 1947 in St. Basil’s church. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Jim worked as a master union electrician and was a retired member of the Wilkes-Barre Local #163 IBEW. Jim was a former member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, and Nativity B.V.M. Church in Tunkhannock. He was a life time member of the Dushore Fire Co., and a member and past commander of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Surviving: Spouse: Dotty at home Sisters-in-law and spouse: Marjorie McDonald Yonkin Dushore, PA Marian McMahon Laporte, PA Joan & Walter Ammerman Clarks Summit, PA Numerous nieces and nephews, Jim was predeceased by two sisters; Mary Catherine Vetter of Lancaster, NY and Helen Ann Emmons of Hamilton, OH. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Bert S. Kozen, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, November 2, 2007 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Graveside Military Funeral Honors will be accorded by members of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review on Friday evening at 7:00 P.M.
