Stevens, age 88, of 304 Hill Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Binghamton, NY. Joe was born in Endicott, NY on September 8, 1922, a son of the late Frank & Rose Cagnani Stevens. After graduating from Union Endicott high school Joe attended the Curtis Training School in Buffalo, NY. In 1943 he entered the US Army during WWII and continued his studies in the Airplane and Engine Mechanic School, Sheppard Field, TX. He was then was sent to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was discharged as a Corporal in 1946. He married Rose Marie Obert of Dushore on January 13, 1948. Joe and Rose moved to Manhattan Beach, CA where Joe worked in the aerospace industry. They relocated to Endicott, NY in 2006. Rose predeceased him on July 14, 2007. Surviving: Two daughters: Shari Vaona Pomona, CA Tawn Isker Buellton, CA Brothers: (Twin) John Stevens Binghamton, NY James Stevens Los Angeles, CA Sister: Margaret Mistretta Vestal, NY Brother-in-law: John Obert Olalla, WA Two Sisters-in-law: Patricia A. Sick Land O Lakes, FL Kathryn F. Obert Hudson, FL Two grandchildren and four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Breck Michael Stevens, and brothers, Albert Stevens of Nicholson, PA, Anthony Stevens of Waukegan, IL, Charles Stevens, Endicott, NY, Alan Stevens, Sierra Vista, AZ, Frederick Stevens, Victorville, CA; sisters, Mary DiTomaso, Endwell, NY and Lena Sloma of Endicott, NY. A Graveside Service was held on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Cemetery, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, pastor, presiding. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA. The family will provide the flowers and request that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, Sullivan County Unit, 1948 E. 3rd St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
