Yonkin, age 87, of Dushore, PA passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Highlands Care Center, Laporte, PA. Kay was born April 24, 1923 in Dushore, PA a daughter of the late Arthur W. & Mary Blanche McDonald Yonkin. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School, a member of the class of 1941. She began working at GTE Sylvania in Montoursville, PA and enlisted in the US Coast Guard (SPARS) and served until 1946. She worked at the Dushore telephone office until it closed and then went to work for the former Meehan Oil Company in Dushore, PA. She later worked for the Picklner Oil Company of Williamsport, PA from which she retired. She resided in Williamsport until declining health required her to move to the former Williams Personal Care Home in Hillsgrove and after it closed to the Wyalusing Personal Care Home. Kay was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA and a life member of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Surviving: Brother: Arthur A. (Bernice) Yonkin Dushore, PA Sister-in-law: Marjorie Yonkin Dushore, PA Numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings: Ann (Ivan) Tourscher, Agnes (Patrick) Hanley, Mary E. (John) McMahon, John (Josephine McMahon) Yonkin and Clare (John) Quigg. A Transferal Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by as Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery. Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA.
