Whipple, age 70, of Homet's Ferry, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 after a courageous battle with COPD. Gail was born in Albany, New York on August 8, 1940, a daughter of the late Harold & Edythe Vining Deitz. She lived near Bern, NY where she graduated from the local high school and attended college to be a medical transcriptionist. She worked for many years as a waitress and bartender for the Wyalusing Hotel and the Windy Mill Inn in Black Walnut. She married L. Dale Whipple of Wyalusing on December 19, 1986. Gail was a loving spouse, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling and resided in Ocala, Florida during the winter months. She enjoyed Nascar racing and especially loved to follow her son, Mark, in his micro-sprint racing at the local track in Homet's Ferry. Surviving: Spouse: Dale at home Two sons: Michael (Barb) Wurzler Williamsville, NY Mark (Maria) Wurzler Wyalusing, PA Daughter: Cheryl O'Neil McKinney, TX Step-daughter: Dawn (David) Camp Wyalusing, PA Brother: James Deitz Marietta, GA Ten grandchildren: Julia Donnelley, Jessica Walters, Melissa O'Neil, Kevin O'Neil, Tara Wurzler, Michelle Wurzler, Mark Wurzler, Justin Newhart, Kayla Waluk and Alan Newhart; six great grandchildren: Taytlyn Stiehl, Owen Donnelley, Gianna Hudock, Dawson Newhart, Jenalee Newhart and Gage Waluk. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael O'Neil and a step-son, Dale E. Whipple. Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
