OBITUARY
William J. Pawlak, age 89, of New Albany, PA passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Memorial Hospital, Towanda, PA.
Bill was born in Lopez, PA on August 28, 1917 a son of the late John & Eva Pawlak. He attended high school in Lopez until the 11th grade. Since there were not enough students to have a senior class in Lopez, he graduated from the New Albany High School a member of the class of 1936. He married the former Evelyn Lucy Sturdevant of New Albany in 1937 and she predeceased him this summer on August 5, 2006.
Bill and Evelyn took over her father’s company the Sturdevant Bus Line in 1944 and Bill drove one of the two busses daily from Towanda to Williamsport, PA for 10 years until they scaled down to one trip a day. At this time Evelyn ran the bus route and Bill began working at Masonite Corp., later Craftmaster, where he was employed until retiring in 1984. After retiring he joined Evelyn as a driver until they both retired the bus line in 1999.
Bill was a member of Evergreen Lodge #163 F. & A.M. and the Williamsport Consistory. He enjoyed spending time with his family and also fishing. He also became a skilled mechanic and kept the busses and the station wagons maintained many years past their normal life expectancy. Bill was also an honorary member of the Dushore Fire Co.
Surviving:

Pawlak, Big Flats, NY; two grandsons and their spouses; Scott (Susan) Pawlak D.D.S. and Attorney David (Anita) Pawlak both of Big Flats, NY; six great grandchildren and two sisters: Mrs. Anne Elchak of Monroeton, and Mrs. Dolores Mattichak, of Lopez.
