Charles Irwin Post, age 82 of Bradenton, FL passed away on October 14, 2010.
Charlie was born in Orange, New Jersey, February 10, 1928, the son of the late Charles I. Post Sr. and Nettie Carita Ackerman Post. His mother died when he was two weeks old. His father later married the former Mary-Irwin McElroy, who raised him as her own.
Charlie graduated from the Hill School in Pottstown, PA in 1945, then served in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1951 with a B.S. in Romance Languages.
Charlie worked at Chase National Bank, Standard Brands, Inc., and retired from Applied Power, Inc. in Wisconsin in 1986 as Vice President and Treasurer. He also served on the board of a large mutual fund group for 18 years. He lived in Scarsdale, New York and Oconomowoc, Wisconsin before retiring to Bradenton, Florida. In retirement, Charlie was able to pursue his lifelong passions for travel, sports and playing bridge.
He is survived by his long-time companion Jacqueline Welles Keller at home, and five children: Jeffrey C. (Katie) Post, Minneapolis, MN, Martha R. (Leo Laux) Post, Half Moon Bay, CA, Elizabeth A. Post, West Chester, OH, Caroline M. (Brian) DeWyer, Greensboro, NC, and David M. (Nancy) Post, Papillion, NE; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by a sister, Irwin Sawyer Post Ives.
The family wishes to thank Charlie’s devoted caregivers at Bradenton Health Care Center and Tidewell Hospice. A private memorial will be held at the convenience of the family.
