Miller, age 78, of Laporte, PA passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010 at the Williamsport Hospital with his loving family at his side. Jim was born in Butler, PA on February 26, 1932 a son of the late Lester and Florence Marie Byers Miller. He graduated from the Butler High School, a member of the class of 1950. He married his loving spouse the former Marilyn G. Patten of Butler, on June 7, 1952. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Jim began working for JC Penny's in 1950 and also served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1954. Returning to JC Penny's he worked at various stores in western PA and also in DE, NJ, NYC, and VA, retiring as a store manager in McLain, VA in 1978 after 39 years of service. He and Marilyn moved to their permanent residence in Laporte in 1980. Jim was a member of the Laporte United Methodist Church and a member of the Lake Mokoma Association, Mokoma Conservancy, Eagles Mere Country Club, Eagles Mere-Laporte Lions Club and the J C Penny's Retirees Association. Surviving: Spouse: Marilyn at home; five children and spouses, Warren J. & Debbie Miller of Bridgeville, PA; Cheryl and David Bremer, Millersville, MD; Mark and Eileen Miller, Kansas City, KS; Wendy & Dennis O'Connell, Cliffside Park, NJ; and Claudia & Tom Clark, Bristow, VA; two sisters-in-law: Maxine Buffington and Janice Vavro; Eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by a brother Ernest and his wife Evelyn Miller and a sister Helen Miller. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the Laporte United Methodist Church with his pastor, the Rev. Robert W. Brown, officiating. Interment was in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Butler, PA.
