Rider, 58, well respected New Albany Elementary School Teacher, of Eagles Mere, PA passed away on Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte after a brief illness. Carolyn was born December 19, 1947 a daughter of the late Ivan M. & Helen O. Vogel Hugo. She graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School, a member of the class of 1965 and also from Bloomsburg University in 1969. Carolyn began teaching Spanish in Danville and married Harold C. Rider Jr. of Eagles Mere on April 11, 1970. She also taught in Sullivan County for a short time until she became the 5th grade teacher at the New Albany Elementary School where she has taught the past 27 years. She obtained her Masters Degree in Elementary Education in 1972. Carolyn was an outstanding teacher and loved her many students over the years. She was a member of the Eagles Mere Community Church and a member of the Eagles Mere Country Club. She was an avid golfer and was the 2005 Ladies’ Senior Champion. She also enjoyed walking with her dog and tending to her flower garden. Surviving: Spouse: JR Rider at home Son: Neil E. She was predeceased by brothers: Kenneth W. Hugo on March 6, 2002 and Howard I. Hugo, June 6, 2004. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eagles Mere Community Church, with the Rev. Deane S. Shively, officiating. Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA of Friday, October 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
