She was born August 24, 1922, a daughter of the late Anson I. Marshall of Liberty, PA & Marie Harder Marshall of Dushore, PA. Lois graduated from the Ralston High School in 1939. During her lifetime Lois established the WIL-LOS Keeshond Kennel. She and her dogs, one of which was Jamie Boy, won Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club in 1960 and own Best of Breed and First Place in the Non-Sporting Group at Westminster Kennel Club in 1961. Lois traveled to many countries with her dogs winning ribbons and trophies. Her kennel was even featured in the prestigious Peterson book on the Keeshond. Additionally, Lois worked with Dr. Patterson of the University of Pennsylvania on a study of congenital heart defects in dogs. Lois organized the process to analyze the first specimens from the Smithsonian Institute Antarctic Expedition with Mrs. J. Burch. Surviving, are a son, James Marshall McNamara of Windsor Mill, Maryland; granddaughter Cherie Marie McNamara of Dundalk, MD; a grandson, Anson Marshall McNamara currently of Sasabo, Japan (US Navy) and a great granddaughter, Julia Ann Shelburne of Dundalk, MD; a sister, JoAnne England who currently resides in Maggie Valley, NC. She was predeceased by a brother, James Marshall, an army air corps pilot who died in North Africa in 1944 and a sister, Rose Marie Becker in 2001 and a step-mother, Mary A. Richardson, in 1956. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the Fairview Cemetery, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Bert S. Kozen, pastor of St. Basil’s Catholic Church, Dushore, PA presiding. Memorial contributions are directed to the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers and would be appreciated.
