Rosie was born August 28, 1922 in Dushore, PA a daughter of the late Augustine N. & Margaret Sick Gainer. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School in Dushore, a member of the class of 1940. She was an active member of St. Basil’s Church and belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society and a member of the church choir and for over 20 years taught the First Communion Class. She and her family have baked beans for the St. Basil’s and St. Francis (Overton) Picnics for over thirty years. She was elected for over 40 years as a Cherry Township Auditor. She also was very involved with the Sullivan County 4H and was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile, a member of the Tuesday Book Club and a volunteer at the Sullivan County Library. On June 26, 1943, she married Bernard W. Walsh of Murraytown; he predeceased her on January 23 of this year. They were the parents of four children: Mary Lou Meehan (John McCarthy), Wyalusing, James Walsh, Dushore, Eileen Walsh (Jordan Langelier), Denver, Co. and Peggy (William) Black, Laporte. They have six grandchildren and three great-grandsons; two brothers and sister-in-law; John (Jack) & Virginia Gainer of Dushore and Eugene Gainer of New Alexandria, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Gene Merge, Pittsburgh; a sister-in law, Martina Cavanaugh of Concord, NC, formerly of Elmira Heights, NY; sister-in-law: Theresa Walsh of Mildred, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William E. Gainer. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Bert S. Kozen, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Members of St. Basil’s St. Francis of Assisi Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Vigil Service on Friday, at the funeral home.
