Mary was born in Dushore on May 23, 1925, a daughter of James J. & Mary J. Richley Lane. She graduated from St. Basil's High School, a member of the class of 1943. Mary attended the Robert Packer School of Nursing and graduated as a registered nurse in 1946. After graduation she worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City for a year before returning home to work at the Robert Packer Hospital. In 1949 she married Theodore (Teddy) Czygier of Mildred, and together they owned and operated the Rustic Coffee Shop at Cherry Flats, Cherry Twp, the Green Swan Inn in Dushore, and Czygier's driving range at Cherry Flats. Teddy predeceased her on January 26, 1967. After his death, Mary began a second career as the night supervisor at the Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA. She held that position until her retirement in 1989. Known to many simply as “Aunt Mary”, she was a nurturing presence to friends and family alike, providing friendship, council, nursing care, baked goods, or a great meal as the situation warranted. She will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched in so many large and small ways. Mary was a life long member of St. Basil's Church. She was also a member of St. Basil - St. Francis Altar and Rosary Society, McDermott Post #452 American Legion Auxiliary, and the Towanda Elks. Surviving: Three brothers: Jerome J. (Josephine) Lane Cincinnati, OH Francis (Dorothy) Lane Honesdale, PA Michael (Deborah) Lane Chestertown, MD One brother-in-law: Thomas Ray Chicago, IL Many cousins and 23 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, James J. Lane Jr. of Dushore on Apr. 15, 1995, a sister, Catherine (Kitty) Minier of Dushore on Apr. 24, 2008, and a nephew, David Lane of CA in 1993. A Transferal Service will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil's Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil's Cemetery. Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA on Monday, June 14, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M Members of St. Basil - St. Francis Altar and Rosary society will recite the Rosary at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
