Mary was born in Larksville, PA on March 9, 1926 a daughter of the late Paul Anthony & Elizabeth Lech Karpovich. She graduated from the Cherry Township High School a member of the class of 1944. She attended Duquesne University in Nursing for a brief time. She married John W. Potuck of Sugar Hill on February 4, 1946. He predeceased her on September 26, 2003 after 57 years of marriage. After her marriage, Mary and John lived in Green Farms, CT for three years before returning to Sullivan County. She worked for a brief time at the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co. in Mildred and later worked with John in their own TV and Appliance Store in Dushore, PA for 26 years until retiring. Mary was during this time Secretary and Treasurer of Cherry Township. She was also instrumental in the planning of the new township building. Mary was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a lifelong active member of the Democrat Party and a member of the Voting Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings throughout the year. She was predeceased by brothers: Anthony Karpovich, Joseph Karpov and Francis Karpovich; a son-in-law, Raymond J. Farrell and a great grandson Kevin LaSuer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from the P. Dean Home Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, June 10th at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Members of St. Basil's - St. Francis Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 5:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.
