Black, age 85, of Summit, NJ formerly of Lopez, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ. Bob was born in Lopez, on November 17, 1924 a son of the late William M. & Ethel Johnson Black. He graduated from Dushore High School, a member of the class of 1942. Bob enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served on the US Boston in the South Pacific. After the War he worked for several years for the former Weldon Mfg. Co. of Lopez. He married the former Mildred Borick of Lopez on June 5, 1948. The celebrated their 61 wedding anniversary last year. In 1953 they moved to Summit, NJ. Bob retired from the US Postal System after 25 years of service. Bob was a lifelong member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, in Mildred and was a past commander of the former VFW Post in Lopez. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening. He was an avid bowler and baseball was his passion. (Evalda) Black Dushore, PA Sister: Diane (Arno) Serafini Mildred, PA Sister-in-law: Molly Johnson Lopez, PA Sisters-in-law: Eva Schneider Perkasie, PA Catherine (Paul) Snider Lopez, PA Brother-in-law: Steve Borick Towanda, PA Four grandchildren: Lauren Bariexca, Gregory Iannelli, Bradon Iannelli and Derek Iannelli Several nieces and nephews and he was predeceased by a step-brother Clair Johnson of Lopez, PA. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with the Rev. Randele Lee Albers, officiating. Interment will be in St. Vladimir's Cemetery, Lopez, PA. Friends may call on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Homer Funeral Home. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA and members are asked to assemble and pass in review on Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family will proved the flowers and request that memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, NE Region, 63 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
