Hurd Houghtaling, age 72 of Herrickville, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 8, 2006. Katherine was born January 15, 1934 a daughter of the late Amos C. and Eva Beauman Hurd. She married Leon (The Great) Houghtaling of Franklin, NJ on September 14, 1952. He predeceased her on March 18, 1999. She was active in the HOPS Ambulance Assoc. for fifteen years, and she was also a member of the Herrickville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Katherine enjoyed quilting, crafts, gardening, and bluegrass festivals, as well as spending time with her family. Surviving: Three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert & Helen Houghtaling Rome, PA Lee & June Houghtaling Wyalusing, PA Granden & Janice Houghtaling Herrickville, PA Two daughters and son-in-law: Dawn & Keith Englehart E. Greenville, PA Shelley Houghtaling Reno, NV Sister: Ruth Steele Angola, IN Half brother: Charles Hurd Augusta, NJ Half Sister: Grace Estell Edmenston, NY 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson George Taylor, one brother, Joseph Hurd; and three sisters. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 12 at 4 :00 P.M. at the East Herrick Cemetery, Herrickville, PA, with the Rev. Helen Learn, pastor of the Herrickville United Methodist Church, Herrickville, PA officiating. Interment will be in the East Herrick Cemetery.
