OBITUARY
Beverly Grace Skillings, 84, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at her home in Camptown, PA, with her family by her side. Her death followed a brief illness following hip surgery and she had recently returned home after about three weeks of hospitalization.
Beverly Grace Sterling was born September 30, 1925, in Port Crane, NY, the daughter of the late John and Mae Dunning Sterling. She grew up in Camptown and graduated third in her class from the Camptown High School.
A few years later, she met her future husband, Loring Skillings, who was in the U.S. Marine Corps at the time.
They were married on March 16, 1946, and would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this March.
Beverly was a member of the Camptown United Methodist Church, where she served many years as the church treasurer and as a member of the choir. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women (formerly Women’s Society for Christian Service).
Beverly will be remembered for her giving and selfless nature. She was committed to her family and, in addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, tirelessly served her church and community.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and their respective families.. Beverly was predeceased by two sisters: Leola Burgess and Mildred Robinson.
Visitation will be hosted by the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home at 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, on Friday evening, January 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.. Funeral services will be held at the Camptown United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 16, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Helen Learn, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Camptown Cemetery.
