Charles P. DeLoache
Charles P. DeLoache, 81, died February 23, 2006 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Florida. He was born November 4, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York. He enjoyed summers in Eagle’s Mere since 1972.
Upon graduation from Prospect Park High School in Prospect Park, PA, in 1943, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and served on a mine sweeper in the China Sea during World War II. Charles graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1949, returned to the Navy in 1950 and served a second tour of duty on a destroyer in the Mediterranean Sea during the Korean War.
Following graduation and prior to his second tour of duty, Charles joined American Stores Company for what would be a 46-year career as the Division Engineer in Baltimore, MD.
Charles is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Marjorie Sperling; a sister, Evelyn Coffman of Media, PA; sons, William Alan and wife Christine of Boiling Springs, PA and Philip Jay, wife Joanne and step grandson Connor Smith of Annapolis, MD.
Charles enjoyed golf with his wife and held memberships at Eagle’s Mere Country Club, Baltimore Country Club in Baltimore, MD, Black Diamond Golf and Country Club in LeCanto, FL, and Seven Rivers Golf Club in Crystal River, FL,. He attended the Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA for 48 years. He was a member of the St. Andrew’s Society of Baltimore.
Memorial Services will be held at the Eagles’ Mere Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 15,2006 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Peter C. Hodgson, officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Andrew’s Society Foundation scholarship fund in memory of Charles DeLoache at PO Box 4114 Timonium, MD 21094-4114.
