DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net Obituary Lawrence Patrick Connell, age 67, of San Mateo, CA and Dushore, PA passed away on Friday evening, February 5, 2010, at the Mills Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. His loving wife, Hazel, and his sister Pat were at his side. Larry was born September 21, 1942 and graduated from St. Basil's High School, a member of the class of 1961. He graduated from the University of Scranton in 1965 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He married the former Hazel M. Allison of Winchester, England on June 15, 1985. Larry worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 25 years, initially on the East Coast, and then as the Far East Financial Officer, based in Tokyo, Japan. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1982 to work at Sears Tower in Chicago, he and Hazel lived in Oak Park, IL for 15 years, and then relocated to California in 1997. On his retirement he joined Hazel in the Real Estate industry at Coldwell Banker. Although Larry traveled and worked around the world, he and Hazel always loved to return to the family farm in Dushore, PA Best known for his sense of humor, dry wit and generous personality, Larry will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A few days before his death, Larry carefully arranged his own funeral. Surviving are his wife, Hazel, at home and a sister and brother-in-law: Patricia (Nasser) Azadi of Waltham, MA; a sister and brother-in-law, Lord & Lady Strathcarron of London, England, and nephews and niece, Sean, Rory & Sophie A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil's Church, Dushore, PA on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00A.M. at St. Basil's until the time of the service. A period of fellowship will follow the interment at the Dushore American Legion Post. Memorial Contributions are directed to St. Basil's Restoration Fund, PO Box 307, Dushore, PA 18614.
