OBITUARY
Clair D. Johnson, age 85, well known Sullivan County resident, of Lopez, PA passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2005 at the Highlands in Laporte, PA. Clair was born in Lopez, PA on July 27, 1920. He graduated from the New Albany High School a member of the class of 1939. He served with the US Army as a Staff Sergeant during WW II. After the War he married the former Mary Ellen Perozzi of Mildred, PA on May 14, 1949.
Clair worked at the Lopez store as a meat cutter for several years. He was appointed Treasurer of Sullivan County by Governor William Scranton in 1963. He was later elected and served for an additional term. It was at this time he ran and was elected as the Sullivan County Prothonotary, an office in which he served the people of Sullivan County, for a combined total of thirty-one years, until his retirement in 1994.
Clair was a member of Trinity Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Mildred, PA. He was a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA; a member of Evergreen Lodge # 163 F&AM, Monroeton, PA; a member of the White Ash Land Association and a member of the Lopez Civic Association.

The funeral will be held from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. with Services at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Chapel, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Randele Lee Albers, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Dushore, PA.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 27th from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
Graveside Funeral Services will be accorded by member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass-in-review on Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Masonic Services will be held at 7:15 P.M. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
