Sarge was born November 17, 1927 in San Augustine, TX, a son of the late N.B. & Betsand Oliver McBride. He graduated from High School and later received a college degree in the Military. He married the former Isabelle Richmond from Plymouth, MA on February 18, 1956. He served 25 years in the United States Air Force as a cook. His last station was at the Benton Air Force Base from which he retired to Mildred in 1972. One of his proudest moments was serving General Curtis E. LeMay at Otis AFB in MA and he also won the very prestigious Hennessey Trophy for cooking at the Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa. He served as a Cherry Township Supervisor for 16 years. He was a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA and a member of the AJ Bird Memorial Post 384 V.F.W. in New Albany, PA. Surviving: Spouse: Belle at home Two sons and daughters-in-law: William & Stacey McBride New Albany, PA John & Colleen McBride Mildred, PA Three daughters and son-in-law: Betty Ann McBride & Donald Hottenstein Mildred, PA Bonnie Lee McBride Fedorchak Newport News, VA Billie Jo McBride Newport News, VA fourteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Charles E. McBride Jr. and by two sisters and seven brothers. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with the Rev. Bert S. Kozen officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery, Mildred, PA. Friends may call at the Homer Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Memorials are directed to the Mildred Ambulance Association, PO Box 74, Mildred, PA 18632. Graveside Services will be accorded by Member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review on Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
