Mr. Lawrence N. Ruth, age 70, of New Albany, PA, passed away on Saturday morning at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. Larry was born in Lansdale, PA, on August 19, 1946 a son of the late Earl M. & Betty Nyce Ruth. He enlisted in the US Army in October of 1963 and was stationed in Ft. Carson, CO and later was deployed to the D.M.Z. in Korea, and the later to the Dominican Republic in 1965 to help forestall the establishment of a “communist dictatorship.” Upon returning home he worked for a local builder and later began working for Haines & Kibblehouse from which he retired after 30 years of service. He married the former Linda C. Hill of North Wales, PA, on April 19, 1969. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Larry purchased some ground in Albany Township in 1987 and retired here in 2002. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He built and flew radio controlled air planes. He was a craftsman and built 410 Sprint Cars, and was very involved as the pit man in various race competitions in Central Pennsylvania. He was a member of the N.R.A. and the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was a life member of the Paletown Rod and Gun Club in Quakertown, PA. He was predeceased by a brother, James Ruth and a sister, Jeanette Cowles. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church Community Room, (access in rear), Carpenter St., Dushore, PA with the Rev. Phyllis A. Pelletier, pastor, officiating. Friends & Family may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
