David Richard Lowe

Mr. David Richard Lowe, age 93, of East Setauket, NY and formerly of Eagles Mere, PA passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson, NY. Dave was born on March 8, 1923, in Fort Wayne, IN a son of the late Harry Bromley & Emma Leona Wilkens Lowe. He graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne, IN a member of the class of 1941 and also received an associate degree at Indiana University. He honorably served his country during WWII, as a Navy Pilot. On June 1, 1946, in the Trinity Episcopal Church, he married the former Ellen Joan Dutterer and they enjoyed almost 60 years of happy marriage before her passing on April 5, 2006. Dave worked for 38 years as an Insurance Salesman for Medical Protective Co. in Fort Wayne, IN and retired from there in 1984 as Secretary, VP, and Agency Director. In 1976, Dave and his wife Ellen purchased a property in Eagles Mere, PA and then retired there in 1986. For the next 20 years they wintered in Vero Beach, FL. Dave was an active Mason and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 60+ year member of the Isaac Hiester Lodge #660 F&AM, Reading, PA and also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Williamsport and the Mizpah Shrine Temple, Fort Wayne, IN. He was also a member of the Oreland Lions Club, Oreland, PA. He also belonged to the Southern Seniors and several country clubs. He and his wife were avid golfers, and he was very proud of his hole in one on Wednesday, July 22, 1998 on hole 16 (124 yds.) at the Eagles Mere Country Club, where he served as a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the club. Dave lived at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, for nine years. He enjoyed the company of many wonderful guys who ate lunch together at the clubhouse dining room at the James Buchanan building. He was thankful for these good times and, he always said to them, “Muchas Gracias.” Surviving: Son: Daniel K. Olsen Daniel David Lowe Jesse Lowe Eight great grandchildren: Lily Ayers Nathanial Ayers Michael Ayers Emma Wyckoff Henry Wyckoff Brayden Lowe Declan Lowe Ellis Lowe Niece and nephew: Molly Reed and John Kantner Schuylkill County, PA He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law: Kathleen Lowe of Gray, ME in June 29, 2016, and a sister: Sarah Louise Kantner, on January 4, 2009 of Pottsville, PA. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Eagles Mere Cemetery, Eagles Mere, PA with the Rev. Deane S. Shively, officiating.
