Anita B. "Nona" Sysock, age 83, of Sugar Hill, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at home on Wednesday, July 6, 2016.
She was born in Mildred, PA on March 1, 1933 a daughter of the late Eugenio & Susan Mattioli Serafini. She attended Turnpike High School in Mildred, PA. On July 25, 1953, she married Frank Sysock of Lopez, PA.
Anita and Frank started their lives together in Avenel, NJ where they raised their four daughters until Frank’s untimely death on July 5, 1969. Anita then moved with her daughters back to Dushore, PA, where she managed her own restaurant and was employed by Glendons Furniture Store.
Throughout her life, Anita enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her special friend, John P. George. She always looked forward to the Saturday night polkas.

She is also survived by her loyal dog, Bella and several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a special cousin, Flora Arenda of Mildred, PA.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers: John Serafini and Armando “Mondi” Serafini, and by sisters: Annetta Decker, Rose Gardner, Josephine Barnatovich, and Enis Serafini. She was also predeceased by a grandson Frankie Caccia and a very special friend, John P. George.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, her pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
