Helene Lucille Harkness Jordan

Mrs. Helene L. Jordan, age 79, of Cherry Mills, Dushore, PA, passed away on early Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016, at the home of her son, Chris, with her loving family at her side. Helene was born on July 14, 1936, in Sayre, PA a daughter of the late Delos & Ada Mary Updyke Harkness. She graduated from ICS Newport/Pacific High School. She married Francis “Sonny” Xavier Jordan on August 14, 1954 in the St. Anthony’s Church, Elmira, NY, and they enjoyed almost 42 years of marriage before his passing on April 27, 1996. After getting married she moved to Dushore. In early years she worked at the Sullivan County Library, and as a clerk for the Towanda Motel. Along with her husband they owned and operated Jordan’s Service Station on German Street in Dushore for several years. They also provided roller skating services for many schools and churches throughout the area. She also sold Avon, Stanley Products, and Tupperware. In her spare time she enjoyed volunteering with the Kiwanis Club and at the Forksville Fairgrounds for different events where she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, and also a member of the Women’s Aglow and the Red Hat Turnpike Gals. Helene enjoyed bird watching, nature, and drawing. She especially loved to draw and paint but her greatest joy was being surrounded by her loving family. Surviving: Four sons: Francis Christopher (Todd) Jordan, Williamsport, PA Patrick Jeffrey (Sharon) Jordan, Bloomsburg, PA Eric Robert (Lisa) Jordan, Williamsport, PA Mark Xavier (Patty) Jordan, Dushore, PA Daughter: Lisa Mary Norton, Muncy, PA Six grandchildren: Brent William Jordan Richelle Leigh Jordan Courtney Nicole Norton Autumn Rose Jordan Brock Riley Jordan Caleh Mae Jordan Great grandchild: Zarek Xavier Rexer And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend Andy May. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother, Ross Harkness of Pine City, NY, and a sister Ann Theresa Harkness. A Transferal Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with her pastor, Rev. Richard Rojas, presiding. Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning, May 14, 2016, from 9:00 A.M. until the start of the Transferal at 10:30 A.M.
