Mary Eleanor McMahon

Mrs. Mary Eleanor McMahon, age 83, of Dushore, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 01, 2016 at the Williamsport Home with her loving family at her side. Mary Eleanor was born, April 28, 1932 in Towanda, PA daughter of the late Jeremiah J. & Alice E. Holcombe McCarthy. She grew up in Meshoppen and moved to Dushore in 1945 after her had father passed away. She lived on Laurel Street for over 60 years. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School, a member of the class of 1950 and graduated from Marywood University in 1954. She married F. Eugene (Gene) McMahon of New Albany on June 18, 1955, who predeceased her on February 2, 1996 after 40 years of marriage. She worked at The Sullivan Review for close to 30 years. Mary was a devout Catholic and was a woman of great faith. She was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA and a member of the I.H.M. Altar and Rosary Society. She was very active with church picnics and functions and cut the cakes for over 40 years at the 4th of July Picnic. She also taught CCD for many years at St. Basil’s. Mary Eleanor was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Surviving: Four sons and daughters-in-law: Timothy P. and Stephanie McMahon Montoursville, PA F. Richard Rojas, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
