Steve Gulich, age 95, of Lopez, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home in Wyalusing, PA Steve was born in Lopez, May 19, 1920 a son of the late Samuel and Tillie Czap Gulich. He attended the Lopez school and served in the US Army in WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was a sergeant in the infantry and participated in the campaigns in Papua, New Guinea, Luzon and the Southern Philippines. He worked in Clifton, NJ for Yeast Products for over 20 years, retiring to Lopez in 1986. He loved living in Lopez, and especially fishing and walking on the crunchy snow on a moonlit night. In the past few year when his sight declined he enjoyed riding around Sullivan County with his brother Monte. He was a member of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Church in Lopez, PA, and a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA, and the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge in Garfield, NJ. Surviving: Son: Stephen Gulich Jr. of Lopez Daughter: Sandra (Paul) St. Germain of Lopez and Lewes, DE. Brothers: Michael Gulich Lopez, PA Frank Gulich Oakton, VA Numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew, John Kachmarsky, and a special niece, Irene (Jurek) Kowalski, and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by brothers: John Gulich of Dushore; Andrew Gulich of Elmira, NY; and sister: Julia Helm of Philadelphia; and a sister-in-law, Anna Kachmarsky of Lopez, PA. Burial Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at St. Vladimir’s Church, Lopez, with the Rev. Dennis Hendershot, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Lopez, PA. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA 18614. There will be a Panikhida service at 5:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA and by the US Army Honors Detail.
