John Dennis Smith, age 48, of Elmira, NY passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born April 21, 1967 in Port Jefferson, Long Island a son of Robert O. and Mary Rita Burke Smith. He attended local schools and later moved to Elmira, NY. He was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA Surviving: Parents: Robert & Rita Smith Eagles Mere, PA Brothers: Thomas (Barbara Michen) Smith Laporte, PA Robert Smith Jonestown, PA Daniel (Jan) Smith Overton, PA Sisters: Patricial (Paul) Boswell St. Petersburg, FL Dr. Maryrita (Dan) Weller Warnersville,PA Kathleen Smith St. Petersburg, FL Rose Marie (Louis) Gansell Unityville, PA Maureen Smith St. Petersburg, PA Special Friend: Brandy Crans Elmira, NY And several nieces and nephew and numerous cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2015 at 10:00 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, pastor, presiding.
