Lowell Thomas Ditzler

Mr. Lowell Thomas Ditzler, age 81, of Colley, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, with his loving family at his side. Lowell was born on August 1, 1933 in Greenpoint, Lebanon County, PA a son of the late David Elmer & Jennie Caroline Krieser Ditzler. He graduated from Jonestown High School in Jonestown, PA and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956, having served during the Korean Conflict and achieving the rank of Sgt. He was transferred in the Army Reserves and later to the 201 Red Horse Air National Guard at Fr. Indiantown Gap, PA. He married the former Marguerite “Peggy” Tironie of Hughesville, PA on May 9, 1959 and they enjoyed 50 years of happy marriage until her passing on January 27, 2010. Lowell and Peggy resided in Lickdale, PA where he owned and operated a Barber Shop for 25 years. He was a carpenter who worked at the Ft. Indiantown Gap until retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1998. He was also a deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer in Lebanon and then transferred to Sullivan County until he retired. Lowell and Margaret moved to Sullivan County in 1984 while he continued his work at Indiantown Gap. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and enjoyed spending time with them and also his favorite dogs, Beau and Beauty. He was a member of the Sattazahn Lutheran Church in Jonestown, PA and attended Zion Chapel in Dushore, PA. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners and Tall Cedars of Lebanon in Jonestown, and a life member of the N.R.A Surviving: Two sons: David Lowell Ditzler Colley, PA Drew Thomas Ditzler Colley, PA A daughter and son-in-law: Darlene (James) Price Fredericksburg, PA Brother: Pierce (Shirley) Ditzler Jonestown, PA Sister: Sandra Fulmer Cleona, PA Sisters-in-law: Cecelia Tironie Hughesville, PA Ruth Alice Hunter FL Two grandsons: Thomas James Price Fredericksburg, PA Travis Lowell Price Fredericksburg, PA Two great granddaughters: Sarah Elizabeth Price Lebanon County, PA Amelia Grace Price Lebanon County, PA And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore with the Rev. Phyllis A. Pelletier, officiating. Interment will be in the Colley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by Legion Members who are asked to assemble and pass in review at 1:45 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
