Armeta Lois God

Mrs. Armeta Lois Young God, age 87, well known Terrytown, PA resident, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor with her loving family at her side, just two days short of her 88th birthday. Armeta was born on June 25, 1927 on Doolittle Hill, Wyoming County, PA a daughter of the late Roscoe and Helen Benninger Young. She attended school in Skinner’s Eddy and Wyalusing. She married Carl Sevellon God of Terrytown, PA at the Evergreen Christian Church in Evergreen, PA. They owned and operated Carl’s family dairy farm until retiring in 1978. In retirement Armeta and Carl raised hay and sweet corn and maintained a large vegetable garden and they enjoyed 51 years of happy marriage before Carl’s passing on January 5, 2001. Armeta worked for the dress manufacturing plant in the area and later at the former Endicott Johnson Shoe Manufacturing Plant in Mildred, PA, for 23 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother. She liked to cook for her family, and would have all her children and their families over for Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. She liked sewing, painting and making clothes for her children. She also liked painting ceramics. Surviving: Three sons and daughters-in-law: Rev. James R. & Beverly God, New Bloomfield, PA Dale L. God & Kim Hines, Terrytown, PA Two daughters and sons-in-law: Donna M. & Neil Benjamin, Terrytown, PA Cindy S. & Cornelius Blokzyl, Towanda, PA Two sisters: Beatrice Johnson, Towanda, PA Iva Johnson, Terrytown, PA Eleven Grandchildren: Jonathan God Jeffrey God Jason God Stephanie God Bright Scott Benjamin Dale Lee God II Jennifer God Angela Blokzyl Flynn Anthony Blokzyl Brett God Bryan God Nineteen great grandchildren: Jonathan God Jr. Jenna God Abigail God Lydia God Joseph Bright Seth Bright Darren Benjamin Kyle Benjamin Isabelle God Issac God Kathryn Flynn Bentley Flynn Katelyn Blokzyl Aaden Blokzyl Riley God Kyan God Casey God Leah God Jace God She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a son Rodney L. God on August 5, 1973 and by a great grandson, Jackson Laurence God, on November 6, 2013 and three sisters: Jeanette Young Johnson and Lena Young Shaffer and Violet Young Williams; and three brothers: Edmund Young and Duane Young and (Twin) Alfred Young. Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family with her son, Rev. James R. God, and her grandson Rev. Jonathan C. God, co-officiating. Interment will be in the Terrytown Cemetery, Terrytown, PA. Friends and family may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
