Dorothy Marie Potter Keeney, age 93, of Wyalusing, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, April 18, 2015 at the Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital.
Marie was born on Sugar Hill on February 5, 1922, the first child of the late Lewis and Susie Kintner Potter. She graduated from Wyalusing High School, class of 1940, and in 1943 married Dennis Keeney. They made their home on Oak Hill, welcoming four children into the world, before his untimely passing in 1956.
Always a hard worker, Marie used her cooking and baking talents at the Wyalusing Rocks Restaurant, the Wyalusing Valley High School cafeteria, the Chattaway Restaurant, as proprietor of the Wyalusing Restaurant, and finished her career at the Friedenshutten. Her pies and cinnamon buns remain legendary. She also sold Avon for forty-six years, retiring when she reached ninety.
Marie played piano for family gatherings and for the Hollenback Methodist Church, playing by ear with a beat straight from the blues. For fun, she worked in her vegetable gardens, played cards with anyone who would, and could be seen at many local school sporting events over the past thirty-five years. Marie remained inquisitive about people and events around the world her whole life, but she drew her strength and happiness from her large and loving family.
Marie is survived by brother Joseph K. Potter, sister Janet Logan, son D. Terry Keeney (Barbara), daughter Susan Burgess (David), son Tracy Keeney (Christine), and daughter Allyson Smith (Stephen).
Marie (Mammy) specifically asked to name all her grandchildren: Dana Keeney Beyer (Thomas), Matthew Cobb (Sharon), Robyn Keeney Lacy (John), Dennis Girven (Marie), Marci Girven Dake (Jody), Maggie Keeney Major (Art), John Keeney (Nikki), Jeffrey Keeney (Kristin), Chadd Smith (Dena), Andrew Smith (Kelly), and Cameron Smith (Kaela).

Beyer, Sarah and Drew Girven, Alexander and Brandon Dake, Riley and Grady Cobb, Abby, Thomas, and Finley Major, Elin, Wynn, and Jett Keeney, Julia and Jack Lacy, and Baylie, Zoe, Laurel, and Lucy Smith. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and numerous close friends.
