Willis Chester Howell

Willis C. Howell, age 93, of New Albany, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 09, 2015 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA. Willis was born July 21, 1921, in Towanda, a son of the late Manley & Grace Webber Howell. He graduated from the New Albany High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and was stationed in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. He spent the next four years fighting in the Central Pacific. He married Norma Lee Bair of Williamsport on October 6, 1944. After WWII he attended a two year program at the Williamsport Agricultural School. He and Norma celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary before her death on May 16, 2014. Willis was a lifelong Dairy Farmer and also drove school bus for the Wyalusing Area School District for 32 years. He also worked for the PA Game Commission. He was a member of the New Albany United Methodist Church. He also liked to spend time at their cabin on the Susquehanna River. He was a member of the A.J. Bird Memorial V.F.W. Post #384, New Albany, and a member of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Surviving: Son: John M. Howell New Albany, PA Daughter: Sheryl L. Howell Endicott, NY Brother: Carl Howell New Albany, PA Granddaughter: Julia M. Dudascik-Willis and husband Oral R. Willis Clifton Park, NY Two great grandsons: Theodore G. Willis Clifton Park, NY Zavier Z. Willis Clifton Park, NY And several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with his Pastor Kitty Keller, officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther’s Mill, PA. Graveside Military Honors will be accorded by members of the US Army Honors Detail. Friends may call at the P.
