Betty was born in Plains, PA on February 7, 1916, a daughter of the late Francis J. and Susan Bodnar Woznicki. She graduated from the Wyalusing High School in the class of 1935. After school she worked at the Wyalusing Rocks with her sister, Louise Wildrick. She married Carl H. Marshall on April 8, 1936. He predeceased her on March 17, 1987. Soon after they got married the family moved to Buffalo, NY, where Carl worked on aircraft for the war effort. In the early 50’s the family moved to Willow Creek, NY, where they resided until moving back to Wyalusing in 1976. They remodeled her childhood home and Betty lived there until she moved to the Wyalusing Personal Care Home and later The Manor 3 years ago. Betty was a committed member of her community and was a member of the Wyalusing Lioness, the Wyalusing Borough Election Board for 10 years, the Wyalusing Borough Shade Tree Committee and the Wyalusing American Legion Post 534 Auxiliary. She was in the Grandparent Helper program, tutoring students at Wyalusing Elementary School for 10 years. Betty enjoyed taking bus trips with the Senior Citizens AARP, and spending time with friends in the Stevensville Birthday Club. Betty had a zest for life, loved her family, friends and community. Her passion was gardening, and she was well known for her beautiful flowers gardens. She loved to travel, having been to Russia, Greece, Italy and many other destinations. She would hop in the car at a moment’s notice just to take a ride around the country side. Betty was an avid reader and especially liked history and biographies. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Surviving: Sons and daughter-in-law: Daniel (Laura) Marshall Holtwood, PA Jack Marshall Trumansburg, NY David Marshall Yuma, AZ Richard Marshall Tucson, AZ Sister: Leona Dunklee Laurel, MD Brother: Carl Woznicki Athens, TN Also survived by four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Louise Wildrick and 2 brothers Francis Woznicki and Albert Woznicki. A private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
