OBITUARY
Doreen Joyce Wright Potter, age 84, passed away September 10, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA. She was born July 8, 1930 in Connersville, IN to the late Irvin F. and Esther Anderson Wright. Doreen spent most of her childhood in Massillon and Alliance, OH, before moving with her family to Camptown, PA when she was ten. She graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School in 1948. She was a farmwife and stay-at-home mother until 1965 when she went to work at Honchell’s Market in downtown Wyalusing, and later at Brick’s Market. In 1985, Doreen moved to Florida to care for her mother and son. She also worked in bookstores in Winter Haven and Bartow until retiring in 1995. She left Florida and moved to Wyalusing, PA in 2007, living at Park Place until recently. Doreen was a good cook and baker, liked to play cards, and in earlier years enjoyed bowling, but her life-long passion was reading. Her preference was murder mysteries, and she never left home without one, just in case there was time to read a few pages. She retained her faith in God throughout her lifetime. Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lanny Potter in 1997; and her sister, Jennifer Wright in 2012. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Gary Seymour of Towanda, PA; grandson, Tyler Seymour of Hoboken, NJ; step-grandsons, Sean and Nathan Seymour and their families; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Charles Babcock; nephew, John Wright and his family; father of her children, Joseph Potter; and lifelong dear friends, Marie Keeney and Janet Logan and their families. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA 18853, with Rev Jim Donahoo, officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, 105 Main St. Towanda, PA 18848, or to Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA 18848.
