Mary was born on October 10, 1919 in Port Blanchard, PA a daughter of the late Joseph and Cassie Moleski Yanuicz. Mary graduated from Camptown High School a member of the class of 1939. After graduation she worked at Devine’s Diner in Rushville, where she met her future husband Darwin Jones, who was working in the auto shop adjacent to the diner. They were married on June 13, 1942. Soon after being married Darwin was drafted into the Army Air Corp. After returning from the Air Corp. they moved to Stevensville, where she resided until her passing. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. She was a member of the Stevensville Community Club and the Stevensville Sewing Circle. Mary was a lifetime member of the VFW Post# 6824 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved gardening and she could get almost anything to grow. In addition to planting and caring for her own flowers and garden she managed and maintained the flowers and landscaping at St. Mary’s Church, Wyalusing, PA. She liked to sew, crochet, and quilt. For the last 20+ years she would make and donate lap robes for people who were sick. Surviving: Son Joseph D. She was predeceased by a daughter; Ann Marie Jones, her husband Darwin Jones in 1990, two brothers Anthony Yanavitch and Joseph Yanavitch, and sister Anna Bagdon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the Camptown Cemetery.
