God, age 91, of Terrytown, PA, passed away at the Highlands Care Center on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 Herman was born on May 21, 1922, in Terrytown, PA, a son of the late Charles H and Susie Johnson God. As a youth he worked on the family farm in Terrytown, he then was drafted into the United States Army where he served during WWII. After the service he came home and worked at the Ford Dealership in Towanda as a mechanic, where he worked for several years. He then went into the stone quarry business where he worked for 40 years, until the age of 81. He also drove a milk truck for the Wyalusing Creamery for a number of years while operating the quarry. After the stone quarry he did small engine repair out of his garage in Terrytown until his health prevented him from doing so. Herman enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to travel, having been all across the United States. He liked to drive his golf cart from Terrytown to Wyalusing to visit friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post #510 Black Walnut, and the VFW Endless Mountains, Post No. 3583, Mehoopany, PA Surviving: Son: Charles (Ruth) God II Sugar Run, PA Daughter: Jan God and John Adams Sayre, PA Margene (Larry) Vanderpool Wyalusing, PA Carrie Jane God Reading, CA Grandchildren: Jack (Billy Jo) Tuttle Toby Tuttle and Kari LeStrange Tanya Walker Tabitha Vanderpool Larry (Lacey) Vanderpool Charles (Sandra) God III Christopher God Kathy Regul Steve Thompson William Thompson Close Friend: Ricky Johnson Terrytown, PA Numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers: Carl S. God on January 5, 2001 and an infant brother Carl. A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
