DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net Obituary Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Bliss, age 94, a resident of the Highlands Care Center, Laporte, formerly of New Albany, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 05, 2013 Betty was born June 11, 1919 the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Lukaszewski Wiorkowski of Justus, PA. She graduated from the Scott Township High School, Montdale, PA and married Carl W. Bliss, of Peckville, PA on January 30, 1943. Carl predeceased her on October 24, 1982. Betty was a homemaker and a loving spouse, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed extensive traveling , gardening and was very proud of keeping a spotless home. She was also very active in earlier years with the New Albany Volunteer Fire Company. She was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA. She is survived by two sons: Carl and wife Linda Bliss of San Diego, CA, Michael and wife Sandi Bliss of Peoria, AZ and a daughter, Elizabeth Trine of Powell, PA; four grandchildren: Nicole McPherson of Glenville, NY and Deanne McPherson of State College, PA and Hannah and Carly Bliss of San Diego, CA; a sister, Pearl Bellan of Peckville, PA and a sister-in-law, Eleanor (Alden) Holmes of San Diego, CA& Pauline Wiorkowski of Scott Twp, PA ; a god-daughter, Maureen Beller of Morris Plains, NJ and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda McPherson on January 9, 2009 and a brothers, Alfonse Wiorkowski of Justus. A Transferal Service will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water Street, Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, presiding. Interment will follow in the adjoining St. Basil’s Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 8:30 A.M until the time of the Transferal Service at 9:30 A.M.
