OBITUARY
Martina T. Mapes Post, age 63, of Sugar Run, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 with her loving family at her side.
Martina was born October 19, 1949 a daughter of the late Martin E. & Mary Teresa Barry Harvey. She graduated from the Sullivan County High School a member of the class of 1968. She was a member of St. Basil’s Church and a member of the choir. She was also president of the Altar & Rosary Society and taught CCD classes.
Tina later became a member of the Moxie Community Church where she taught Sunday school, various Bible studies and worked in the AWANA program and served as the church secretary. She taught release time classes in the Wyalusing School District and served on the Board of Directors for Child Evangelism Fellowship.
She moved to Ithaca, NY where she worked for the Groton Community Health Care, later Classen Home Health and Cornell University. Tina attended Homer Baptist Church and Groton Assembly of God. She taught various Bible Study courses and served as Vice-President for the Ithaca Aglow International and served on the Board of Directors for the Groton Youth Commission. Tina was an ordained minister.
In 1968 she married Edward Lawrence Mapes. They had four children: Edward B (Melissa) Mapes of Sugar Run, PA; Tina Marie (Gerald) Silverstrim, Dushore, PA; Teresa (Scott) Carachilo, Cape Girardeau, MO and Lori Mapes Finnerty of Sugar Run, PA; two brothers: Robert (Donnata) Harvey of Wyalusing and Leo Harvey of Tunkhannock, PA; three sisters: Elizabeth (John) Meehan of Sarasota, FL, Rose Harvey of Hanahan, SC and Charolette Richlin of Schaefferstown, PA; uncle, Francis J. (Sophia) Barry of Dushore; aunt, Martha (Nartcy) Nitcznski of Dushore, PA; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at the Moxie Community Church, 315 Benjamin Road, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Mike MacWhinnie, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
